Conjunto Dominacion Norteña with Liz Olivo
Founded in 2015 in San Jose California
Focusing mostly on Norteño Classic and playing covers from known artists like Ramon Ayala, Los Cadetes and Los Tigres del Norte Conjunto Dominacio Norteña released their first CD titled al 100% in December 2016.
Accordionist/Singer: Liz Olivo was born in Tampico Tamaulipas Mexico moving to San Jose California when she was 10 years old. Liz comes from a family that is musically oriented and being around musicians her passion for the accordion grew stronger. She received her first accordion lesson from her father Antonio Olivo (sax player) in 1992, and was inspired with music by Chavela the female accordionist from Grupo Express. Liz has recorded 4 albums, her recent album al 100% includes 4 songs written by her (al 100%, Las Plebes, En mi cama, Perro huevero). With big dreams and a humble heart filled with gratitude, she continues to perform in Conjunto Dominacion Norteña.
Saxophone: Antonio Olivo was born in La Labor SLP Mexico and started playing guitar and singing at the age of 13. He was inspired by his father who was also a saxophone player. He learned how to play accordion at the age of 14 and recorded five albums in his music career. Antonio moved to California in 1990, playing with several bands in the bay area. He now gives accordion, bajosexto and saxophone lessons in his spare time, dedicated his whole life to playing and teaching music. He can’t imagine doing anything else.
Bass/Singer: Angel Gallegos was born Tarimoro Michoacán Mexico and moved to San Jose in 2008. He started playing using a little wood guitar as a child but took his first lesson when he was 14 years old. Angel was inspired by a famous band called Bronco. He recorded five albums and he “hopes to make it big” one day.
Drums: Reginaldo Tellez was born in Valparaiso Zacatecas, moved to San Jose in 1993. He started playing at the age of 18 and was inspired by a local band named Los Angeles. He recorded 1 album and various songs with different bands. Music is his favorite hobby.
Bajosexto/Singer: Eleazar Torres was born in Ruiz Cortines Michoacan Mexico and moved to San Jose in 1996. He won a singing contest once and is then that he decided to learn to play an instrument and was inspired by all norteno bands he heard. He recorded one album and often says that music makes him feel very happy.
