PERFORMING AT THE 2014 CAF
Jet Black Pearl
After many years of intense studies in order to become a serious graphic designer, Jetty Swart (NL) switched her plastic computer keyboard into a pearl accordion and started busking in the streets.
She sang herself and her accordion all the way to the south of France, where, seduced by its weather, the nature, and a charming town called Montpellier, she
decided to stay for a couple of months.
Months turned into years, the street gave way to real stages where she met other like-minded musicians, and in 2000 she started her band, Yeti. They played a mix of traditional French covers and original songs, touring all over Europe, recording 2 CDs.
Meanwhile she continued her solo performances, allowing for closer contact with her audience and... to travel more easily! And so one of her trips took her to San Francisco in 2010. The Californians loved her music, but what the hell was she singing about? Her new songs had to be in English, so that the crowd wouldn't miss a word of these little dramas full of dry wit and flamboyant characters. A new country, a new language, a wedding... time for a new name! Jetty Swart became Jet Black Pearl: World Wild Accordion Diva from the port of Amsterdam, singing, rapping and beat boxing about slugs in love, criminal gurus and hallucinated butterflies.
This year in Cotati, Jet Black Pearl is proud to be accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Charles Moselle, a real master in beat boxing, keyboards, saxophone and flute.
